Snow, freezing rain could snarl Friday morning commute: Environment Canada
CBC
Commuters throughout the Greater Toronto Area are being warned of freezing rain and snow Friday that could impact the rush-hour traffic, according to Environment Canada.
The national weather agency issued a special weather statement for two to five centimetres of snow or ice pellets and a risk of freezing rain starting early Friday morning through to the early afternoon.
The statement was issued for most of the GTA, from Brampton to Toronto to Oshawa.
Meanwhile, Halton Region was issued a yellow warning for two to five milimetres of ice build-up from freezing rain expected on Friday morning. That forecast should shift to rain as temperatures rise above zero through the morning, said the agency.
Environment Canada warned residents of slippery roads and walkways that could lead to risk of injury and potentially impact the early rush hour traffic.
Power outages may be possible in Halton, said the agency.
