Why create cooperation ministry, it's in State List: Sitaram Yechury targets Modi govt

Sitaram Yechury said by creating the Ministry of Cooperation, the Modi government is infringing upon the rights of state governments because it is a subject that falls under the State List.

Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury has sharpened his attack at the Narendra Modi government alleging that the creation of the Ministry of Cooperation is an attempt to infringe upon the federal rights of the state governments. Speaking to India Today TV, Sitaram Yechury said, "The first objection [to the decision] is that it strikes at the relation between the Centre and the state governments which is the basic structure [of the Constitution]."
