SINGAPORE - When parents give large sums of money to married couples, is the cash meant for only their children or is it to be shared by both spouses?
This question may seem whimsical, but couples caught in such conundrums are dead serious, so much so that they have turned to the courts to fight for their share. Such a case in 2025 saw a couple clashing over a sum of over $1.14 million from the husband’s mother.
