WI vs BAN, 3rd ODI: Taijul Islam picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in ODIs and helped Bangladesh bowl West Indies out for 178.
Taijul Islam, on Saturday, July 16, registered the best bowling figures by a Bangladesh spinner in ODIs. The left-armer finished with figures of 10-2-28-5 against the West Indies in the third and final ODI of the three-match series at Providence Stadium in Guyana.
Earlier, the Tigers roped in Taijul after leaving left-arm fast bowler Shoriful Islam out of the playing eleven. The decision paid immediate dividends as the southpaw castled Brandon King on the very first delivery he bowled.
Thereafter, Taijul accounted for Shai Hope’s scalp and bowled a wicket maiden in his second over. Rovman Powell saw his stumps go for a walk after the ball spun past his bat to take down the off-stump.
Keemo Paul perished to the spinner’s guile after being stumped by Nurul Hasan Sohan. Taijul delivered the body blow for the West Indies after he got rid of the dangerous Nicholas Pooran.
Pooran was threatening to take the match away from the Tigers after scoring 73 with four fours and two sixes. After getting rid of the West Indies skipper, Taijul also took his maiden five-wicket haul in ODI cricket.
The left-armer surpassed Abdur Razzak, who finished with figures of 9.2-0-29-5 against Zimbabwe way back in October 2009 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
