The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested seven more accused in connection with the death of BJP worker Manik Moitra, who was killed in post-poll violence in West Bengal's Sitalkuchi last year.
Residents of West Bengal's Cooch Behar district, all seven accused in the case have been sent to judicial custody by a designated court till February 11. The CBI had earlier filed a chargesheet against six accused in the case.
Manik Moitra, a local BJP worker, was attacked by unknown persons who assaulted him with an iron rod. As per the FIR, he was also shot by the attackers. Moitra was later rushed to a local hospital where he died during treatment on May 3 of last year.

The matter was first heard by a bench of the Calcutta High Court which took cognizance of a report by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in this regard.
The CBI, at the direction of the Calcutta HC, took over the investigation into Moitra's death and filed an FIR on August 27.
A month later, based on its investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet against six accused - Tahidul Mia, Haridas Barman, Madan Barman, Naba Kumar Barman, Shyamal Barman and Arabindo Barman. The accused were charged with conspiring to murder Manik Moitra.
The accused, identified as Vikas, allegedly killed Babli after she pressured him to marry her, even as his family had fixed his marriage elsewhere. Police said the accused lured her to a secluded spot, killed her with a sharp weapon, and dumped her head separately to prevent identification.
