West Bengal govt asks employees to declare properties

Amid corruption allegation against top TMC leaders, the Bengal government has directed officials to declare their properties within the prescribed time.
The Mamata Benarjee-led West Bengal government has asked its employees to declare properties within the prescribed time limit. Though this rule has been there for some time, sources said the government officials have not been stringently followed by them.
The development comes as several Trinamool Congress leaders as well as government officials are facing corruption allegation. In the past couple of months, several top leaders have been under the scanner of government agencies for corruption charges.
Amid continued scrutiny from the CBI and the ED, the Bengal government has decided to take a tough stand and directed government officials to follow the orders strictly. The officials have been asked to declare their properties within the time frame prescribed.
