Well done old man: MS Dhoni's funny line for Dwayne Bravo's fielding effort

MS Dhoni had a day to remember on Sunday after the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 91 runs and moved to the eighth spot in the IPL 2022 points table.

MS Dhoni, on Sunday, May 8, had every reason to cheer after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals (DC) by 91 runs at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. With CSK losing quite a few matches in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL), Dhoni has faced disappointment more often than not.

After staying at nine for quite some time, the Super Kings moved to eighth and kept alive their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs. Dhoni, in the meantime, showed his humorous side when his team was on the threshold of victory. In the 17th over, Maheesh Theekshana bowled a good length delivery and Anrich Nortje smashed it towards the cover where Dwayne Bravo was standing.

After Bravo made a decent stop at covers, Dhoni made a hilarious remark about his fielding efforts. “Well done old man,” the Jharkhand-born Dhoni was heard making the cheeky comment on a stump-microphone.

The 38-year-old Trinidad-born Bravo, in the meantime, talked about his funny conversation with Dhoni after he came to bat in the final over.

“Well, for me it was a hat-trick ball. I wanted to make sure I got him on strike. I told him to hit boundaries, not push me for twos. I told him after the innings ‘MS, 3 balls to again (if such a situation comes again), let someone else go and run because I have to protect my hamstring’,” Bravo said after the match.

After CSK’s fourth victory, Bravo lauded Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway and the bowlers for putting in a collective effort and helping their team win.

“But it felt good to be batting with a great. I thought it was a great professional team display. It started with Rutu and Conway. The way they set up the game with their batting ( was good) and then we finished off with the ball as well. Every game we play, we have to play like professionals and look to dominate,” he added.
