Environment Canada has issued a weather advisory for Hamilton, Burlington, Brantford, Niagara region, Haldimand County and Norfolk County.
The federal weather agency says snow is expected to begin falling Friday morning and taper off late this evening.
Snow with total accumulations of 10 to 15 centimetres is expected, the agency said, adding that residents can expect local snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 centimetres over higher terrain.
"Visibility may be reduced at times in heavy snow and local blowing snow," Environment Canada said.
"Widespread snow will push across southwestern Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe today. The evening commute will be greatly affected by this snowfall."
The weather agency is urging people to be prepared to adjust their driving with changing road conditions.
"Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations," Environment Canada said.
"There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance."
The forecast in Hamilton calls for a high of -2 C during the day and says the evening will feel like -9 C with the wind chill.
P.E.I.'s Public Schools Branch is looking for 50 substitute bus drivers, and it'll be recruiting at three job fairs on Saturday, June 8. The job fairs are located at the Atlantic Superstore in Montague, Royalty Crossing in Charlottetown, and the bus parking lot of Three Oaks Senior High in Summerside. All three run from 9 a.m. until noon. Dave Gillis, the director of transportation and risk management for the Public Schools Branch, said the number of substitute drivers they're hiring isn't unusual. "We are always looking for more. Our drivers tend to have an older demographic," he said.
