We cannot be stopped from probing theft of coal in Bengal: CBI

The CBI informed the Supreme Court on Wednesday that the Mamata Banerjee government’s withdrawal of general consent for CBI investigations cannot stop it from probing the massive theft and illegal transportation of coal from the Eastern Coalfield mines by State and Central public sector officials in cahoots with the mafia. One of the prime accused in the case, Anup Majee, had approached the Supreme Court in appeal against a Calcutta HC order upholding the CBI probe. Majee is a director of a company engaged in the purchase and sale of the dry fuel.
