Water level in Papanasam dam stands at 84.80 feet

PWD officials reported no rainfall in the region in the last 24 hrs. Papanasam dam had a water level of 84.80 ft (max 143 ft) with an inflow of 422.62 cusecs and discharge of 504.75 cusecs. Manimuthar dam had a water level of 55.80 ft (max 118 ft) with an inflow of 40 cusecs and discharge of 10 cusecs.

“We are judges and therefore, cannot act like Mughals of a bygone era ... the writ courts in the guise of doing justice cannot transcend the barriers of law,” the High Court of Karnataka observed while setting aside an order of a single judge, who in 2016 had extended the lease of a public premises allotted to a physically challenged person to 20 years contrary to 12-year period stipulated in the law.
