Water level in Mullaperiyar dam was 116.90 feet (maximum permissible level 142 ft.) with an inflow of 94 cusecs and a discharge of 300 cusecs. The level in Vaigai dam was 51.25 ft. (71 ft) with nil inflow and a discharge of 69 cusecs. Combined storage in Periyar credit was 3,281 mcft. Mullaperiyar dam recorded 0.8 mm and Thekkadi 0.4 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 6 a.m. on Monday.
The All-India level NEET examination was started a few years ago to counter complaints of corruption during the joint entrance examinations held at the State level. AIDSO had warned the authorities that the solution to the menace of corruption was not changing the examination system, but to investigate the corruption and punish the guilty.
