Water in two more schools in the N.W.T. show lead levels above Health Canada's guidelines for drinking water, according to the territorial government.
Some water fixtures at Chief Sunrise School in Kátł'odeeche First Nation and Deninu School in Fort Resolution have elevated lead levels, according to a news release issued Thursday.
As a result, all water fixtures at both schools will be out of service and an alternative drinking water source will be provided.
Water at École Boréale School in Hay River was also tested and all water fixtures showed lead levels below the maximum guidelines set out by Health Canada.
The testing is part of a territory-wide school water testing program that prioritizes older schools with larger student bodies.
The territory intends to test drinking water at every school in the N.W.T. Earlier this month, the government said it will pay for drinking water at schools across the territory while it finishes testing.
