Gas prices rose a net of 8 cents per litre in the GTA this weekend, fuel analyst says

Residents in the Greater Toronto Area are noticing gas prices continue to soar and this fuel analyst says that’s not stopping anytime soon.
Former Member of Parliament Dan McTeague, who also runs a gas prediction site, says stations saw a net increase of eight cents a litre this weekend alone.
“[The increases] are fairly devastating, to put it bluntly, because they come [at] a time in which we are trying to put out an inflationary fire that's pretty much hitting everything,” he told CBC Toronto Sunday.
That’s something people at the pumps Sunday definitely understand. Ahmad Faizi is an Uber driver and though he has a fully hybrid electric vehicle, he says the change is still impactful.
“Every single gas station that I'm passing, I'm just literally watching the prices,” he said. “We literally need to put gas every single day.”
Faizi says he used to do 10 hour shifts every day, but to make up for the increase in gas, he’s now doing 14-hour long shifts.
“We're just praying. Every single morning we wake up, we just want to see the lower prices, not the highest prices,” he said. “It's not just the gas. Everything is getting expensive.”
Faizi added he used to be able to fill up his tank with $40. Today, he spent $65 at the pump.
“It's absolutely insane,” he told CBC Toronto Sunday. “Let's hope for the best.”
Connor Gaines is moving houses right now and had to fill up a moving truck tank. He says he paid hundreds of dollars for that.
“It's astronomical. It's insane right now,” he said.
Despite this, Gaines says he’s not going to stop driving.
“You got to do what you got to do, at the end of the day,” he said. “It’s just the way it is.”
McTeague said anybody involved with transportation will need to budget an extra 33 per cent for gas prices. But it’s not just that industry that will be impacted, especially as diesel prices also continue to skyrocket.
