Mumbai Indians finally caught a break after losing their first eight matches in the IPL 2022. They defeated Rajasthan Royals to earn their first points in the tournament.
Mumbai Indians won their first points in the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League after defeating Rajasthan Royals by five wickets. Their first win of the season was set up by the fast bowlers, who did exceptionally well to contain the likes of Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer.
After restricting the RR batting to just 158 runs, MI returned to chase the total down with four balls and five wickets remaining.
The batting exploits of the Rohit Sharma-led franchise was majorly shouldered by Suryakumar Yadav who scored another half century this season and Singaporean-Australian cricket Tim David, who hit a quickfire 20 off just nine balls, late in the day.
David has been a much talked about commodity in the world of cricket over the past year and a half, showcasing his talent in the franchise leagues all across the world. David's ball striking ability against both pace and spin makes him a rare player in the world of cricket, something that prompted Mumbai to pay Rs 8.25 crore for a relatively unknown player.
David has not been given consistent chances this season and has only played three matches. However, after his performance in the last game, it is expected that David will be a permanent fixture in the team for the remaining of the matches, as Mumbai look to cause a few upsets.
