Rohit Sharma signed autographs for fans in Thiruvananthapuram after India defeated South Africa by eight wickets in the opening T20I on Wednesday, September 28.

The win marks India's 16th consecutive T20I victory in run chases at home. After the match, Rohit went to the crowd and obliged the fans with his autograph. The BCCI shared a glimpse, saying: "Just a little something for the fans here in Thiruvananthapuram, courtesy Captain Rohit Sharma."

Young left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh set up the match for India as he took three wickets in the second over of the match. Arshdeep removed Quinton de Kock cheaply for one, and Rilee Rossouw and David Miller for golden ducks, giving India a dream start. Deepak Chahar joined the party, reducing South Africa to 9/5 after 2.3 overs.

Aiden Markram and Wayne Parnell tried to recover the visiting South Africa team to overcome the horrendous start. Just when the South African ship started sailing, Harshal Patel trapped Markram in front for 25 and Axar Patel sent Parnell packing for 24. Towards the end, Keshav Maharaj fighting knock of 41 off 35 lifted South Africa to 106/8.
