Mayor Anbazhagan addresses residents' concerns at ward sabha meeting, focusing on human rights issues and urban development challenges.
Ward sabha meetings were held across the city marking the Human Rights Day observation.
Mayor M.Anbzhagan attended the meeting in ward 27 and received petitions from residents. Residents of drew the attention of the Mayor to unresolved issues such as an unopened Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), uncovered sewer drains, encroachments on Pattabiraman Road, delays in delivery of pensions, and stray dog menace in the area.
They also highlighted an increase in road accidents due to the encroachment of several motorbike resellers and mechanics along Pattabiraman Road. This cramped the roadway leaving less space for vehicles to travel, they added.
Mr.Anbazhagan said steps were being taken to contain the stray dog population through sterilisation. A crematorium for dead animals would soon come up in the city, he said and directed the officials to cover open drains and clear encroachments along Pattabiraman Road.
