Wants to do things at a rapid pace: Zaheer Khan wants Rishabh Pant to find balance in his captaincy

Wants to do things at a rapid pace: Zaheer Khan wants Rishabh Pant to find balance in his captaincy

India will be up against South Africa on Sunday, 19 June to play the decider of the five-match series. Rishabh Pant’s captaincy will be key for India.

All eyes will be on Rishabh Pant and his men in the decider of India vs South Africa T20I series on Sunday, 19 June in Bangalore. After pulling back the series from 0-2 down, this will be a golden opportunity for India to land the killer blow on a strong South Africa squad, who must have thought they had the series in the bag after their first two wins.

The young Indian captain will be under scrutiny after his questionable choices throughout the series, and will have one final chance to impress the selectors as the Indian captain. Pant has been under fire over his rotation of bowlers or for that matter promoting Axar Patel ahead of Dinesh Karthik in the batting order.

Former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan assessed Pant’s captaincy ahead of the final game and stated that he needs to find the balance.

"When he scores runs, people talk about him. When he doesn't, people still talk about him. There’s a similar style of pattern in his captaincy. We have to give him time. He likes to think out of the box. He tries to follow his instincts far too much,” the veteran Indian said on Cricbuzz.

“He likes to take a lot of chances. He has to find that balance when he makes extreme decisions. It’s just like his batting," he further added.

Pant has been under fire with his performance with the bat as well, getting trapped against left arm orthodox bowlers. He has failed to capitalise on the balls bowled away from his body and has gotten out trying to manufacture shots that have never been there.

India will hope to win against Temba Bavuma’s men, who seemed to have lost momentum, and finish strong before flying out for the tours of Ireland and England.
