
Vizag Navy Marathon 2024 a huge draw

Over 14,000 runners from around the world participated in the Vizag Navy Marathon 2024 on Beach Road.
A large number of people took part in the Vizag Navy Marathon 2024, on the Beach Road, onSunday.
According to the official release from Eastern Naval Command (ENC), over 14,000 runners, including nationals of Kenya, Malaysia, Russia, and Mauritius, took part in the iconic event, which showcased grit and unity.
The participants, including many foreign nationals, reached Beach Road in the early hours to participate in the ninth edition of the marathon. This flagship event of the city’s Navy Day celebrations offers delightful experiences to runners of all levels.
“It was an amazing event at the year-end for 2024. I have participated in this event along with my family,” said Priya Bhattacharya, who hails from Kolkata, at the RK Beach on the sidelines of the event.
Vice-Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, flagged off the event at 4.30 a.m.. The Flag Officer highlighted the opportunity for participants in the world-class race to experience the captivating landscapes of Visakhapatnam.
“It was a true celebration of determination, camaraderie, and sportsmanship at the Navy Marathon 2024. It was an overwhelming response to this event. The spirit of the Indian Navy, the people of Vizag and the contributions from sponsors SBI, IOCL and State administration are highly appreciated,” Vice-Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar said.
Runners chose from the full 42-km marathon, the 21-km half marathon, and the shorter 10-km and 5-km routes. The marathon offered a scenic run along the city’s picturesque coastline, and the winners received attractive prize money of around ₹10 lakh.
