Virginia mom, former teacher pulls child from public schools amid left-wing curriculum push

Virginia Democrats introduced HB 614 seeking to update history standards for marginalized communities as former teacher Debra Tisler chooses private school.

Tisler, a mother of four, decided not to enroll her youngest child in public school, opting for a private school instead. After watching public education spiral into what she described as a breeding ground for "political ideologists and activists," Tisler said she taught in Fairfax County Public Schools from 1997 to 2014. Joshua focuses on politics, education policy ranging from the local to the federal level, and the parental uprising in education.
According to Tisler, parents in Fairfax County Public Schools protested the curriculum over the years, targeting gender identity, sexually explicit content in library books and academic standards. Joining Fox News Digital in 2019, he previously graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Political Science and is an alum of the National Journalism Center and the Heritage Foundation's Young Leaders Program.
