Virat Kohli won't stay down for too long, he is an absolute professional: Ricky Ponting

Legendary Australian captain Ricky Ponting said Virat Kohli will be able to work out his shortcoming and return to peak form sooner than later.
Legendary Australia batter Ricky Ponting has backed Virat Kohli to hit peak form soon, saying the former India captain will certainly work out a way to overcome his lean patch. Ponting said it's up to Kohli to work out whether he has a technical issue or it's just an issue of burnout for his dip in form.
Virat Kohli's form or the lack of it has been one of the biggest talking points in Indian cricket over the last 2 years. The former captain was expected to revive his form in IPL 2022 as he had headed to the 15th season without the burden of captaincy.
However, Kohli struggled to get going, getting as many as 3 golden ducks in IPL 2022. The RCB star managed 341 runs in 16 matches at an average of 22 a strike rate of just 115.
The star batter has been rested for the ongoing 5-match T20I series against South Africa at home and is set to be back for the one-off Test, which is a spillover from last year's series, against England in July.
"Poor form is going to happen to everyone at some stage. Virat’s probably had a 10 or 12-year run where hasn’t had many down times," Ponting told Isa Guha at the ICC Review.
“But there was a lot of talk and conjecture around the IPL about how tired and burnt out he might be. That’s for him to work out and assess and find ways to improve, whether it’s a technical thing or a mental thing.
“I’m sure, being the absolute professional that he is, that he’ll work it out and work it out pretty quickly."
