Ex-India captain Virat Kohli on Wednesday continued his glorious run in ODIs against South Africa as the star hit a half-century in his first match as a pure batter for India since 29 October 2016. Kohli looked in complete control of the game when he got to his 63rd ODI fifty in 60 balls. However, Tabraiz Shamsi got the prized scalp of Kohli against the run of play when the ex-captain was batting at 51.
Kohli was timing well on a tricky pitch in Paarl as he began a new chapter in his career, playing as a pure batter for the first time in over 5 years. Kohli also went past Sachin Tendulkar to become India's highest run-getter in away ODIs during his 51-run knock on Wednesday. He was 11 runs short of Tendulkar's tally ahead of the first ODI and the former captain went past the legendary batter after getting off to a steady start in India's chase of 297 on Wednesday.
