Vemireddy vows to rid Nellore of unemployment

MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy vows to tackle unemployment in Nellore by matching educated youths with suitable jobs.

Member of Parliament Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy has promised to rid Nellore Lok Sabha Constituency of the unemployment problem by providing educated youths with jobs that match their qualifications.

Mr. Reddy, along with his wife and Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy, inaugurated the mega job mela being conducted under the banner of VPR Foundation here on Sunday.

More than 100 companies, some from the IT industry, participated in the mela. Mr. Prabhakar Reddy hoped that the number of beneficiaries would be much higher at the event, recalling that the job mela conducted three months ago saw 1,000 youths walk out with offer letters.

Ms. Prashanthi Reddy said those who could not clear the interview this time would receive skill upgrades and be prepared for the next job mela, which will be conducted three months later. The couple later supervised the interview registration process and interacted with the participants.

Of the 8,000 participants who attended the mela, 2,500 were selected through various screening phases, while 800 were hired on the spot.
