About 45,000 MGNREGA workers are planning to stage a 'surround Lucknow' protest on September 1 demanding a raise in honorarium they receive as wages. They said their honorarium should be revised in the wake of rising inflation.
About 45,000 contractual workers engaged in implementation of the MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005) scheme in Uttar Pradesh are planning to stage a protest on September 1 in “surrounding Lucknow” to press for an increase in their wages. The contractual MGNREGA workers get their wages in the form of honorariums for implementing the central government scheme that promises 100 days of employment to an individual in rural India.More Related News
