Another company is planning an expedition to the Titanic, just months after a tragic OceanGate Expeditions trip to the wreckage killed five people.
The U.S. argued before a District Court in Norfolk, Virginia that congressional protections and a treaty between the U.S. and U.K. established the wreckage as a memorial site. Meanwhile, the company argues that the U.S. has no jurisdiction over international waters, and they are free to send an unmanned submersible to take photographs and even retrieve "free-standing objects."
