The Uttar Pradesh Laghu Udyog Nigam in a meeting decided that the state's first flatted factory complex would be built in Agra. It is expected to cost Rs 125 crores and could house 240 industrial units on four floors.

At a recent meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Laghu Udyog Nigam held in Lucknow, it was decided that the state's first flatted factory complex would be built in Agra.

The complex will be built in an area of 21,500 sq. meters at Foundry Nagar, following which, a similar complex will be built in Kanpur in 6,700 sq. meters. The factory complex in Agra is expected to cost Rs 125 crores and could house 240 industrial units on four floors, in compliance with the environmental norms.

The UP Laghu Udyog Nigam Cice-Chairman Rakesh Garg told India Today that the factory complex in Agra will be built at a distance of 10 km from the Yamuna Expressway. The application process for the allotment of space in the complex will begin soon.

In compliance with the TTZ norms as prescribed by the Supreme Court of India, the factory complex will only house non-polluting industrial units. Preference will be given to the garment industry. The construction of this complex is expected to be completed by December 2023.

In this context, Agra Tourist Welfare Chamber Secretary and IT Consultant Vishal Sharma said that the software industry is completely non-polluting and space should be reserved at this complex for IT and ITES units which could attract foreign investment.

Giving the details about the factory complex, a senior UPSIDC official said that the complex will have industrial units on four floors, each floor having a carpet area of 100,000 sq. ft. The factory complex will be built in an area of 21,500 sq. meters, with the ground floor serving as a support facility area.

There will be canteen services available for workers. Rainwater harvesting services, zero discharge, and solar panels on the roof will make this building environment-friendly.
