New YORKcColor:> The United Nations Security Council was scheduled to hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday on the fighting in Lebanon as war roils the Middle East.
The council, the UN’s most powerful body, was scheduled to meet at 10am (1400 GMT) in New York.
Diplomats said the council was also expected to vote on a draft resolution introduced by Bahrain on behalf of members of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
