Figure skater Amber Glenn explained why she won't be heading to the Trump White House.
Don’t expect to see U.S. Winter Olympic champion Amber Glenn at the White House anytime soon.
The figure skater — who won gold in the team event at the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics — said she won’t celebrate with the current president, Donald Trump, echoing the stance of the champion U.S. women’s ice hockey team, which declined an invitation after controversy erupted over Trump’s dig at them.
“I’m electing not to either, so I do not blame them whatsoever,” Glenn told Us Weekly at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday.
“It is our right to be able to choose what we do and don’t endorse, and I think it is a decision that each individual has the right to make,” she added.
Glenn, who in Italy became the first openly queer woman to represent the U.S. in Olympic figure skating, during a press conference criticized Trump’s treatment of the LGBTQ+ community, saying it had been “a hard time.”
