dpaIslamabad Two Taliban members have been killed in an armed attack in Afghanistanâs northern Samangan province, local officials confirmed on Saturday.The attack was carried out by unknown gunmen on Friday in Darah Suf Payan district, a provincial Taliban spokesman Khairkhawa Samangani told dpa.A member of the Talibanâs Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice Mawlawi Naeem and another armed man was killed in the attack, the official added.However, a senior security official in the province claimed that one Taliban member and two civilians were killed due to a misunderstanding by other Taliban.In the meantime, a roadside bomb hit the vehicle of the Talibanâs deputy police chief for Panjshir province, Abdul Hameed Khurasani, in the Rukha district.Khurasani confirmed the incident but said the blast has caused no harm to him or his bodyguards.There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks.Both the IS group and the National Resistance Front (NRF), an anti-Taliban armed group, are active in the country. The Taliban regime is determined to suppress both groups wherever they find them.NRF militias have been active in the mountainous areas at the valley of Panjshir and the district of Andarab. The anti-Taliban group is demanding the fair political participation of all ethnic groups as well as the protection of womenâs rights, freedom of speech, and elections.The extremist IS militants are attempting to increase their activities since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August.
