
Two killed in northern Alberta shooting, suspect arrested

One man is in custody after two people were killed near Grande Prairie, Alta. early Saturday morning.
Alberta RCMP arrested a 42-year-old man after issuing a dangerous person alert for northwestern Alberta around 11:30 a.m. In the alert, he was described as armed and dangerous, having already fired on multiple individuals. He was said to be on the run in a black truck.
Police say the suspect and the deceased were known to each other and there is no ongoing danger to the public.
Grande Prairie RCMP are investigating.

Sarnia City Council will hold a special meeting Tuesday morning to respond to social media comments made by Coun. Bill Dennis, who criticized city spending on a new mural by Indigenous artist Kennady Osborne as “virtue signalling by woke politicians” — then made a series of comments in response to a reply from Aamjiwnaang Chief Janelle Nahmabin that some have characterized as unprofessional and aggressive.
