Roy Vayalat, the hotelier and one other accused in the Kerala model death case have now been charged under the POCSO Act for a separate incident.
Fort Kochi Police on Friday registered a case against hotelier Roy Vayalat, Shaiju Thankachan, and another person under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Two of them are accused in the Kerala model murder case. Roy Vayalat allegedly destroyed digital evidence in connection with the model's death.
The police registered the case after a Kozhikode native filed a complaint last week. The case is registered against 'No 18 Hotel' owner Roy, Shaiju and Anjali.
According to the complaint, Roy molested a woman and her minor daughter at the hotel in October 2021, mere days before the accident that killed three, including the models.
"Shaiju and Anjali were with Roy when the incident occurred. The family was threatened by the accused claiming to have videos of the victims which would be leaked on social media," said a police official.
The statement of all three accused will be recorded before the arrest is made. Circle Inspector A Ananthalal who investigated the car accident case, might be the one in charge of this case.
Following the death of the models, Roy was arrested and later released on bail. Shaiju, meanwhile, spent over a month in jail since he also had seven narcotics cases against him.
