President Donald Trump was apparently shocked that New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is “even better looking in person” after meeting him for the first time.
During the political pair’s surprisingly cordial meeting at the White House last month, which took place after the two publicly traded blows for weeks, the president seemingly marveled over Mamdani’s looks, according to a new Mamdani profile in New York Magazine.
When Mamdani strolled into the Oval Office moments before the right-wing leader and self-proclaimed democratic socialist spoke with the press, Trump uttered aloud, “Wow, you are even better looking in person than you are on TV.”
New York Magazine reporter David Freedlander, who attended the highly-publicized meeting, added, “The tone never changed from there, with Trump seeming legitimately impressed by Mamdani.”
Trump’s comments about Mamdani’s appearance were a stark difference from what he said about the mayor-elect during an interview on CBS’ “60 Minutes” that aired Nov. 2.
