San Antonio Spurs’ supporters used one fan's hateful text as fuel to celebrate their background and love for the team.
The NBA community is speaking out following one fan’s racist text aimed at Hispanic people who were cheering on the San Antonio Spurs at a recent game.
On Thursday, a woman appeared to use her phone to respond to someone who addressed the “crazy Hispanic fans” at the Spurs’ playoff-clinching win over the Phoenix Suns, per a viral TikTok clip shot by @inluvwganineee.
“All Hispanic! How can they afford it,” read a message purportedly written by the woman in the video.
The clip swiftly caught the attention of the San Antonio Spurs, an organization that’s notably based in a city with a majority Hispanic/Latino population.
“All of us in the Spurs organization are proud to live in San Antonio, a city that shines and thrives because of the culture and contributions of our Latino community,” the Spurs wrote in a statement on Friday.
