"This Tariff will be due and payable until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
President Donald Trump announced Saturday that multiple European countries would face a tariff on all goods sent to the United States until the U.S. secures a deal for “the Complete and Total purchase” of Greenland.
“World Peace is at stake!” he wrote on Truth Social, adding that both China and Russia “want” Greenland, which is now a territory of Denmark.
“They currently have two dogsleds as protection, one added recently,” he quipped.
He then declared that beginning Feb. 1, “Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Finland” would be facing a “10% Tariff on any and all goods sent to the United States,” which will be increased to 25% in June.
“This Tariff will be due and payable until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland,” he wrote.
