Today at IPL 2022, GT vs PBKS: Struggling Punjab look to climb the ladder, to face table-toppers Titans
India Today
The Gujarat Titans (GT) have won five matches in a row in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) and are one of the top contenders to qualify for the playoffs.
Table-toppers Gujarat Titans (GT) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) are set to face each other in Match No.48 of the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday, May 3 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai.
The Titans, led by Hardik Pandya, have been on an absolute rampage and have looked head and shoulders above their opponents. Barring the eight-wicket loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the IPL newcomers haven’t done much wrong. In fact, the Titans are currently on a five-match winning streak.
Skipper Pandya missed an odd game due to injury, but has led his team from the front. Not only is he the leading run-scorer of the franchise, but also a handy bowler. Their bowlers have pretty much been up to the mark and their batters have shown nerves of steel after being put under immense pressure.
The Kings, led by Mayank Agarwal, on the other hand, are gasping for breath at eighth in the points table. They have been inconsistent to the extent that they are yet to win back-to-back matches in the championship. Their captain, Mayank Agarwal, has strained a wee bit after taking leadership duties.
Moreover, apart from the duo of Rahul Chahar and Kagiso Rabada, the rest of the PBKS bowlers haven’t quite been amongst the wickets. Jonny Bairstow’s poor run of form has also been a major concern for the Punjab-based team. If Punjab win their next game, they have a decent chance of going up to fifth.
