The TNCC president meets senior Congress leaders to discuss village committees and data collection in Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K. Selvaperunthagai met Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary K. C. Venugopal in New Delhi on Monday and informed them of the constitution of village committees across the State.
Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Selvaperunthagai said the TNCC had not undertaken such an exercise in the last six decades since it lost power. “We discussed how to take the party to the next level. We have completed the constitution of 70% of the village committees, and we are establishing booth committees, which are the heart of the party. For 60 years, we have operated without any data about our supporters. Now, we do [have the data],” he said.
He added, “Each village committee will have 11 executive committee members, along with a president, two vice-presidents, a secretary, a treasurer, and a deputy secretary. We are issuing identity cards with QR code,” he said.
Asked what the TNCC would do with its property, he said, “We will take decisions based on the guidance from the Congress high command.”
