All India Trinamool Congress leader Gopal Mazumdar was killed by unidentified goons in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Saturday night. He was the husband of local councillor Shipra Mazumdar.
He was allegedly attacked by unidentified goons in Ichapur town at around 9 pm on Saturday. According to sources in the local police, gunshots were heard and he was stabbed with sharp weapons.
After the attack, he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
A police investigation has been initiated. More details are awaited.
