Asaduddin Owaisi criticizes Pakistan for seeking IMF loan for militant activities, calls for disarmament of nuclear arsenal.
Hyderabad parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi described Pakistan as “official beggars” for seeking an International Monetary Fund loan, which which he said would be used for militant activities, and he called out to the world leaders to disarm that country’s nuclear arsenal.
Mr. Owaisi was speaking on Saturday at the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation-organised event which saw several Urdu journalists being felicitated.
“At some point, the international community, and world leaders should decide whether this country [Pakistan] should be permitted to have nuclear weapons. Their nuclear arsenal needs to be disarmed. It should be finished,” the Member of Parliament from Hyderabad said.
Mr. Owaisi, who is the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president, expressed astonishment at how countries like the USA, Japan, and Germany could agree to an International Monetary Fund loan for Pakistan. Terming it as “international terrorist fund”, he emphasised that this comes at a time when Pakistan has been attacking Indian civilians, land and soldiers.
“Pakistanis are official beggars. They are taking a loan from the IMF. For the past 75 years what have you done? Who forced you to take the loan?” he said and expressed apprehension that IMF loan would be used for militant activity.
The AIMIM chief criticised Pakistan for using Islamic idioms and Quranic expressions, and called out that country’s hypocrisy for de-contextualising religious texts. He said that the Pakistani establishment were blatant liars for using this, and launching an attack during months considered as holy. He said that the Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan has a truck with the Communist Party of China, and that Pakistan had not uttered a word of condemnation against the large-scale killing and incarceration of Uighur Muslims in the Xinjiang region.
Mr. Owaisi said that both national parties — Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress — “should bicker at another time” as now was the time to remain united. Pakistan, he said, has always sought to create discord, weaken and destabilise India.
