Tim David doffs his hat to MI bowlers after thrilling win over GT: They bowled well to get us over the line

GT vs MI: Mumbai Indians star Tim David credited his team's bowlers for helping the five time champions seal a thrilling five-run win over Gujarat Titans.

Mumbai Indians batter Tim David heaped rich praise on MI's bowlers following a five-run win over Gujarat Titans in the 51st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at Brabourne Stadium on Friday.

In a thriller at Brabourne Stadium, MI rode on David's batting and Daniel Sams bowling heroics to make it back-to-back wins in the tournament after losing eight matches to start with.

Invited to bat, MI made 177 for 6 and then restricted the Titans to 172 for 5 to win the last over thriller.

The win was based on two outstanding finishes, first David with the bat and the Sams with the ball as MI defended 9 runs off the final over.

David remained unbeaten on 44 off 21 deliveries, hitting four superb sixes -- one off a free-hit following an above-the-waist no-ball by Lockie Ferguson that unfortunately resulted in the run out of Tilak Varma, Gujarat skipper Hardik Pandya getting him with a superb direct hit. David ended the innings by smacking two sixes off the 20th over bowled by Mohammed Shami.

Gujarat Titans needed nine runs from the last over bowled by Sams but they could score just three to lose the match.

In the post-match presentation, Tim David said, “Given the context, us winning the game, it feels great. It was a good batting wicket, I missed out on a few scoring opportunities in the last over. Shows how well our bowlers bowled in the second half and get us over the line. The wicket was slightly two-paced, it’s about starting your innings, if you get off to a flier then you just run with it. It’s great to be on the winning side.”
