Thirty bank accounts of red sandalwood smuggler, associates found; sent to ED custody

A court in Mumbai under the PMLA has sent red sandalwood smuggler Badshah Malik to the custody of the Enforcement Directorate.
The special court in Mumbai under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) has sent red sandalwood smuggler Badshah Malik to the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) till January 3.
According to the investigating agency, Malik, in association with Vijay Subbanna Poojary and other associates, shipped 17 consignments of Red Sanders to the UAE/Africa; apart from the 7.8 MTs of seized Red Sanders valued at Rs 3.12 crores that was attempted to be shipped out by the syndicate in the guise of Fabric Glue. The agency says that Malik's syndicate appears to have in the past shipped out 120 MTs of Red Sanders valued at Rs 48.00 crores in the guise of fabric glues or radiators in 17 export containers.
