The Ashes: All-rounder Ben Stokes was too nervous to watch the final over of the Sydney Test as James Anderson batted out Steve Smith's over to make sure England drew the Test and avoided a clean sweep in the 5-Test series.
For the second successive year, Sydney produced a classic drawn Test match. After India held on for a stunning draw last year, it was England's turn to hold the fort and prevent Australia from winning the New Year's Test. Joe Root's men held on for a thrilling draw despite losing 9 wickets on Day 5 of the 4tth Ashes Test to avoid a series whitewash on Sunday. It all came down to James Anderson and Stuart Broad as England's best bowlers, with batt in their hand, tried to hold on for 2 overs after "former leg-spinner" Steve Smith provided Australia the much-needed breakthrough removing Jack Leach and had England 9 down with 12 balls to go on Day 5 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
