Ashes, 4th Test: Stuart Broad and James Anderson were among the wickets as the England pace battery kept the Australian batting unit in check on Day 1 of the 4th Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
Thanks to an early finish on Day 3 morning of the Boxing Day Test, the wait for The Ashes to resume has felt like an eternity. While a later start to the 4th Test, days after the New Year, did add to the wait, it was England's meek surrender of the urn, inside 12 days to be precise, that has rendered remaining games inconsequential.
But, the show must go on. And it did, amid a reduced interest, when Joe Root and Pat Cummins walked out for the delayed toss owing to incessant rain at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Opting to bat first, Australia got off to a steady start despite rain playing cat and mouse throughout the day.
