The Ashes: Ricky Ponting said that Ben Stokes is inviting more pressure on himself by maintaining a defensive approach and criticised England's senior batters for how they were dismissed on Day 1 of the third Test.

Ace England all-rounder Ben Stokes's "ultra-defensive" approach could be hurting him and his team and he has to try and rotate strike more often, former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has said. Stokes was dismissed for 25 off 60 deliveries on Day 1 of he third Ashes Test.

Stokes has a strike rate of 29.50 after facing 305 balls in the series thus far.
