A Class 12 student was allegedly forced to clean rooms in her hostel in Tamil Nadu's Thanjavur and forced to take up Christianity. She was admitted to a hospital after she tried to kill herself. She died on Wednesday, January 19, after not responding to treatment.
A video later came to light in which the girl confessed that she was constantly scolded and also made to clean all the rooms in the hostel by the hostel warden. The girl had alleged that she was also constantly forced to take up Christianity.
The person who recorded her video has now been asked to appear before the police.
While hearing the case, the statements of the girl’s parents were submitted before Justice Swaminathan, who then asked if the video was authenticated. The state’s lawyer replied that to authenticate the video, the forensics department would require the original phone.
The parents of the girl informed the court that the person who took the video was Muthuvel and that they didn’t know his whereabouts.
As authenticating the video is crucial for the hearing, the judge then ordered Muthuvel to appear before the investigation officer along with the cellphone. The case will be heard again on January 28.
