The Tata Group will take over Indian Premier League's title sponsors from the 2022 edition, league chairman Brijesh Patel said after the Governing Council meeting on Tuesday.
Tata Group will replace Chinese mobile manufacturer, Vivo as the title sponsor of the Indian Premier League from 2022, league chairman Brijesh Patel said on Tuesday. The Tata Group's association as title sponsors of IPL was discussed during the league's Governing Council meeting earlier in the day, according to news agency Press Trust of India.
VIVO had signed a 5-year deal in 2018 worth Rs 440 crore annually until 2022. However, the Chinese mobile manufacturer had a year of its contract paused in 2020 due to border tensions. The Chinese mobile manufacturer agreed to honour the remainder of the contract in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Sports fantasy platform Dream11 had taken over as the title sponsor in the 2020 edition before Vivo returned in 2021.
