
Tamil Nadu polls: AIADMK, DMK finalise seat-sharing, a day ahead of filing nominations

The two main Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu - the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) have almost finalised their seats sharing with allies for the upcoming assembly polls.

Filing of nominations will start on Friday and the last day is March 19. While the AIADMK is eyeing a record third straight term, the DMK is eyeing a return to power in Tamil Nadu. The DMK gave only 25 seats to the Congress despite relentless pressure from the latter and after an invitation from actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan to the grand-old-party to join his 'third front'.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
