Tamil Nadu | In bid to strengthen hold within Thevars, Sasikala visits Pasumpon Memorial

Sasikala began her tour by garlanding the statues of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar and Marudhu Pandiyar in Madurai.
Expelled All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) General Secretary VK Sasikala is determined to regain her hold in the party. Sasikala on Friday, October 29, embarked on a tour, allowing cadres from Thanjavur, Madurai, Sivagangai and Pudukottai to meet her. The announcement came a few days after she hoisted the party flag and unveiled a plaque that declared her as 'General Secretary'.
Interestingly, her tour coincided with the Guru Puja of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar, an idol of the Thevar community who holds the stature of God among them. Earlier, during the AIADMK regime, Jayalalitha had gifted a 13-kilogram gold full mask to cover Muthuramalinga Thevar's statue during Guru puja celebrations.
