Tamil Nadu Assembly election: DMK announces seat-sharing for Secular Progressive Alliance

DMK finalizes seat-sharing with allies, designating constituencies and symbols for the upcoming elections.
With the DMK concluding seat-sharing and identification of seats for the April 23 Assembly election, the party on Saturday (March 28, 2026) announced the list of constituencies allotted to its allies: the Congress; DMDK; VCK; IUML; CPI; CPI(M); MDMK; Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK); Mukkulathor Puli Padai (MPP); Thamizhar Desiya Katchi (TDK); Manithaneya Jananayagan Katchi (MJK); Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI); and Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK).
The ruling party also announced that KMDK, MMK, MDMK (3 seats), SDPI, MJK, MPP, and TDK will contest on the DMK’s ‘Rising Sun’ symbol, while the Congress, VCK, DMDK, CPI, and CPI(M) will contest under their own symbols.
The 28 constituencies allotted to the Congress are as follows: Ponneri (R), Sriperumbudur (R), Sholingar, Udhagamandalam, Erode East, Aranthangi, Myladuthurai, Cuddalore, Karaikudi, Sivakasi, Thiruvadanai, Srivaikuntam, Nanguneri, Colachel, Vilavangodu, Killiyur, Velachery, Uthangarai (R), Thuraiyur (R), Kavundampalayam, Aathur, Pennagaram, Singanallur, Ambasamudram, Krishnagiri, Usilampatti, Sankarankovil, and Melur.
The eight constituencies allotted to the VCK are: Kattumannarkovil (R), Cheyyur (R), Thirupprur, Arakkonam (R), Tindivanam, Panruti, Pariyakulam (R), and Kallakurichi (R).
The CPI will contest in five constituencies: Thali, Thiruthuraipoondi (R), Srivilliputhur (R), Tiruppur North, and Bhavanisagar (R).
The CPI(M) will contest in the following constituencies: Kilvelur (R), Gandharva Kottai (R), Padmanabhapuram, Pazhani, and Thiruvottriyur.
