Taliban generously supporting cricket development in Afghanistan, says ACB CEO Hamid Shinwari

Speaking to India Today, Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO Hamid Shinwari said the Taliban will be supportive of cricket development in the country and the star players will not have any trouble representing the senior national team.

Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO Hamid Shinwari said the Taliban has been generously supporting cricket development since its inception and he doesn't see any impediments for the sport in the country even after the regime change. Afghanistan is experiencing a crisis situation as the Taliban took over the country, forcing President Ashraf Ghani to flee. While millions have been affected, questions were raised over the future of Afghanistan cricket, which has been on the upswing. Afghanistan cricketers have gone to become global stars and the likes of Rashid Khan have often stressed how cricket bring joy and relief to the strife-torn nation.
