T20 World Cup: Indian top-order struggled against the raw pace of Shaheen Shah Afridi, says Matthew Hayden
India Today
Pakistan batting consultant Matthew Hayden said that Indian batters were blown away by the raw pace of Shaheen Shah Afridi in their first match of the Super 12. Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets.
Matthew Hayden, a former Australia opener and current Pakistan batting consultant for the T20 World Cup in 2021, said that one of the main reasons the Indian top-order struggled against Shaheen Shah Afridi was that they were mostly facing deliveries bowled at 130km/h in the IPL, while the Pakistan pacer was much faster.
By returning India openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul in his first two overs with the new ball, Shaheen laid the foundation for Pakistan's historic first-ever triumph over India in any format at the World Cup.
