Shoaib Akhtar said that Pakistan should have won the tournament considering how they were playing but the country should be proud of how they have played.

Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar appealed to Pakistan fans to remain supportive of the men's cricket team after their exit from the T20 World Cup on Thursday. Pakistan were the only team to remain unbeaten in the Super 12 stage but they lost to Australia by five wickets in the semi-final.

"There is a lot to learn from this game. I am thoroughly disappointed and heartbroken. This World Cup should have been ours," said Shoaib on his Youtube channel. "It is terrible, my feelings are with you but we can't be bad losers. We are going to accept this defeat with open arms and broken hearts. We have done well. Pakistan team I am with you, it's ok."
